Program Description

MARIACHI ENSEMBLES: Learn the musical tradition of mariachi through hands-on instruction and ensemble performance. Students will develop singing, instrumental technique, rhythm, melody, and musicianship while learning traditional mariachi repertoire. Classes are available for beginning and intermediate students and provide a fun, supportive environment for musicians of all ages to grow and perform together. Trimester ends December 19th. MARIACHI PRINCIPIANTES: Audition required for new members—recommended by instructor: Mariachi Principiantes is our beginning-friendly mariachi ensemble designed for students who already have experience on their instrument. Students will build on their foundational skills while learning to play as a traditional mariachi group. With emphasis on ensemble playing, singing, style, and understanding the cultural roots of mariachi, students will rehearse together to prepare for recitals that demonstrate confidence, musicianship, and group collaboration. MARIACHI ALEBRIJES: Audition required for new members—recommended by instructor: Mariachi Alebrijes is our intermediate mariachi ensemble designed for students with solid experience on their instrument and a foundational understanding of mariachi style. This group focuses on advancing technique, musical expression, and ensemble skills through more challenging repertoire and performance preparation. As part of Mariachi Alebrijes, students are expected to demonstrate leadership, dedication, and a deeper appreciation for mariachi music, both in rehearsal and on the stage. GROUP CLASSES–VIOLIN, GUITAR: Build your skills and confidence through engaging group instruction designed for students with previous playing experience. Classes focus on technique, music reading, rhythm, repertoire, and ensemble playing while introducing more advanced musical concepts. Students will strengthen their musicianship through classical and mariachi techniques to perform effectively as part of a group. Trimester ends December 19th. Students participating in both private lessons and 1 group class may be eligible to receive an EBFE Scholarship. Value is based on donations.
