2026 Michigan Guitar Festival
The Michigan Guitar Festival, presented by El Ballet Folklórico Estudiantil, is a one-day, all-ages event where participants will receive a comprehensive workshop led by experienced guitar instructors learning and refining pieces in the styles of jazz, classical, and mariachi in the setting of a guitar ensemble. There will also be an open masterclass where participants have an opportunity to gain one-on-one critique on their playing. The festival will conclude with a concert featuring a performance by the participant soloists, instructors, and participating guitar ensembles.

Introduction to
Guitar Workshop
Includes a 3-hour introductory group workshop for participants who are brand new to guitar. Also includes access to spectating in the masterclass and admission to the concert.

General Workshop
Includes a 1-hour group workshop on each style including jazz, classical, and mariachi. Also includes access to spectating in the masterclass and performing in the concert.

Masterclass
Masterclass participants receive a 15-minute one-on-one session with a workshop instructor with a piece of their choice. This will be open for all participants to spectate. Masterclass participants will also perform their piece in the concert.

We welcome all guitar ensembles that are interested in having the chance to be critiqued in the masterclass and to perform their own pieces in the concert.
